the tai tai life styleback from kl..
had a lovely blast of a time there:)
the whole account strung in bits and pieces
had a nice hotel room + nice toilet [stayed at mid valley]
each of us occupied a different corner of the room
our luggage that it
sam and i brought a HUGE bag each
mine was a very large adidas duffel
while sam's was the roller suitcase kind
on the other hand..erica's bag was miniscule[in comparison]
wonder how she packed so many things inside
the whole trip can be summarised in "eating and shopping"
spent alot of money eating good food
and even more on shopping
the tai tai lifestyle indeed [although we still had to budget ALOT]
let me recount what i bought..
-hush puppies gym pants
-3 tees from FOS
-pair of flats from vincci
-2 funfit sports bras from metrojaya
-various body shop stuff
-earrings for my younger sister
-some stuff for a friend
almost bought..
-223rm levis jeans
-169rm nike bag
but decided they were going to cost too much
rather spend the money on buying more things
opportunity cost right?
ate at..
-manhatten fish market [it cost a bomb]
-baskin' robins
-coffeebean
-bought dunkin' donuts for breakfast
-madam kwan's[this is seriously good]
-kenny rodgers[much cheaper compared to spore]
-auntie anne's
-kfc
it was a good trip
played cards and mahjong many many times
had soooo much fun laughing at each other
and discovering each others' quirks like..
-erica has to bathe in the morning
-sam hates to sleep on her back
-i always forget to bring my specs[including this trip]
and countless more
too bad we were one short for this trip
anyways..we are aiming for a dec jb shopping spree again:)
till then its going to have to be lots of saving
thank God for friendships:)

working the muscleswent rockclimbing today
with a rather unique group of people [ as in the mix of people]
glad that everyone got along fine:)
climbed at 'climb adventure'
first time there for me, unlike the experienced 3 others
havent never climbed regularly, actually close to never
and the others trained in it to varying degrees
obviously i was the worst climber
in terms of techniques and strength
glad that i managed to clear 2 walls
[dismal compared to the rest]
for the second wall..
if not for bonnie's and yanni refusal to allow me to give up
i would have never complete it
while i was stuck up there i was so mad at them
but the feeling of being able to complete it was good:)
that zapped nearly all my strength though
learnt and did belaying illegally:)
its quite fun actually
suffering from vey sore arms now though
the punishment for not having exercised for the longest time
but it shows i worked the muscles right:)
planning to go back again soon
like 2 weeks later
when all the kids are back in school
muahahaha:)
and today was a day of working the stomach muscles too
laughed alot and ate alot too:)
well..that always happens when rachel is around doesnt it:)

whats upthurs to saturday = family trip to jb
stayed in my dad's new apartment [he works in jb]
the 3 kids [includes yours truly] slept in sleeping bags:)
cos the apartment is kinda unfurnished
ok..its like not furnished at all, except my dad's room
but its a pretty nice place:)
went in and out of jb via the causeway buses
its a hassle actually but the novelty is still there
did the usual shopping but didnt buy anything though
just did recce-ing, leaving the buying till kl:)
enjoyed the eating though, helps that the food are cheap
from unique deserts to nice chinese food
the rest of the weekend = usual stuff
that means crosslink and church as usual
bought crocs for my dad today though [ fathers' day pressie]
and what an adventure with them
-at ps-
1st pair = XL which were too big
*couple of hours in between
2nd pair after switching = MD which were too small
*travelled down to cineleisure
3rd pair = LG which were good but in a different colour
throw in irritation and stress throughout
hmm..and as of today..
forseeing that next week is going to be a busy week

impromptu water feature in my houseit was 12 at night
i was lying in bed doing sudoku:)
till i heard.."er jie, come down!" from esther
as i made my way down
heard the sound of flowing [not trickling] water
like eeeeekksss...
the kitchen was flooded! like really flooded
the pipe leading to the kitchen tap literally burst
and water was gushing out, through the cupboard doors
esther called my parents[in m'sia] who were already asleep
she took a while getting them to understand what was happening
anyway..we had to switch off the mains basically
which meant..NO water supply!
we started cleaning up..
mopping up the water
throwing out everything that was ruined [like the garlics and sponges]
removing all the stuff under the cupboards and wiping them
rem..its was like 12 plus at night!
oh..and we sent the brother to buy water:)
you dun want to know how we spent the night
its sums up to say that it was like MAJOR water rationing
really never knew water was soooo important
and was so thankful when the plumber came
looking back
it was quite comical actually..
an experience of a lifetime [so trite i know]
and an interesting observation
people react to stress in different ways right?
on that night..
i laughed alot, sis 'scolded' alot and bro stoned alot:)
excellent example right? haha:)
for the record..all the drama ended at 1 plus
and finally slept at about 2
[without getting rid of the grime of the night]

using every drop of brain juicecrossword puzzles have become yesterday's news
yea..fickle i know
lovin' sudoku now:)
half the family is hooked on that 81-square game..
allow me to show you how:)
my mom bought esther 2 sudoku books for her birthday
she[esther] and my dad would compete who finishes faster
we printed out grids done on microsoft word..
painstakingly fill in the given numbers
and stare at them all day long solving the puzzle [at least i do that]
been racking my brain doing the 'medium difficulty' ones
i dun want to know what the hard ones are like..
think it would seriously blow my mind to pluto and beyond
its frustrating to have to erase everything out cos of ONE mistake
but the sense of satisfaction when all the boxes are filled correctly..
sweet:)
and a hilarious quote on how to 'play' sudoku
"pior maths knowledge is not needed although being able to recognise 1 to 9 would help"
thats why i can enjoy sudoku too:)

the good old daysthe good old games of taboo and mafia
the good old people of 04a2 [half the class at least:)]
the good old narcissistic streak in us
the good old crazy ct:)
the nice food, the laughter, the [dirty] jokes
the talk of army and uni, though rather gender dividing
it was good to be among the same people once again
to clown around, to insult, to reminisence [correct spelling i hope]
to find out how everyone has been getting along
interesting how life brings us to so different places
the guys inevitably end up in the same organisation..like duh
for the girls..a whole myriad of jobs we undertook
waitresses, relief teachers, various admin people..
i always wonder what jc would have been like without this class
granted we have the fair share of spats and internal wars
but we were a good bunch of people, a caring bunch of people
a crazy, hip-hop happenin' bunch of people:)
man..the memories..
i sound as if im never going to see them again right
well..its till uni! for the girls at least

words, glorious wordshave always like word puzzles
the crosswords, find-the-word and its cousins
picks the brain without being too mind-boggling:)
anyway..the latest craze are the crossword ones
i sit at the marble table with my pencil and eraser
the cheap puzzle book and a dictionary
yes..the thick book that contains millions of words
to check up the words that i dun know lah:)
and a funny conversation i had with esther
me: hey..you know what this word means?
*writes out RAIMENT
esther: [bewildered look on face] erm...a fragment of rain??
me: HAHA..its means clothing you know!
see..the advantages of indulging in crosswords
your vocab sure improve one:)
like silo, peruse..cant think of the others now
and for the record..online puzzles are disgustingly hard

a unique bookhere is a book:
1. written over a 1500 year span
2. written over 40 generations
3. written by more than 40 authors, from every walk of life -
moses, a political leader, trained in the universities of egypt
peter, a fisherman
amos, a herdsman
joshua, a military general
nehemiah, a cupbearer
daniel, a prime minister
luke, a doctor
solomon, a king
matthew, a tax collecter
paul, a rabbi
4. written in different places -
moses in the wilderness
jeremiah in the dungeon
daniel on a hillside and in a palace
paul inside a prison
luke while travelling
john on the isle of patmos
others in the rigours of a military campaign
5. written at different times -
david in times of war
solomon in times of peace
6. written during different moods -
some writing from the heights of joy
others from the depths of sorrow and despair
7. written on three continents -
asia, africa and europe
8. written in three languages -
hebrew, aramaic and greek
9. finally the subject matter includes hundreds of controversial topics. yet the biblical writers spoke with harmony and continuity from genesis to relevation.
there is one unfolding story..
taken: 'the stranger on the road to emmaus' [John R. Cross]when i read that for the first time i was struck
not only by the way the writer puts everything nicely
but also how really everything fits in so well together
in a library of 66 books, a golden thread runs through
tells of a hope and a love
that through all ages has and will remain
how can it be the sole work of mere human hands and minds?

da vinci codethe book: 2 years ago
the movie: yesterday
i found the movie good enough
although the code breaking part was too compressed and short
and the ending way too draggy and got a little confusing at times
cos they mashed all the history bits together there
who doesnt know the hype the book has been generating?
was really disturbed by the book then
not so much by the movie although some parts are a little 'urgh'
like silas doing that self flageallation[hope thats how to spell it] thingy
was part squeezing my eyes shut and part hidding under my jacket
one line stood out..
"why cant Jesus be a father and still do all those miracles"
that was something i was wondering about when i read the book
hmm..lets see what uncle tai kok has to tell us about it
its really so easy to get stumbled by the book
dan brown packaged everything so nicely and convincingly
but wei shieng brought up something once..
"everything is based on the painting by da vinci
but was he there when it happened? nooo..."
that helps to clear many doubts
and that little piece of info that crystaltold us about too
its amazing the lengths people go to to create drama and controversy
the B-I-B-L-E, thats the book for me. i stand alone on the word of God. the B-I-B-L-Enothing else is absolute truth:)

a tad too mundaneim bored
never thought i would say it but im bored
even the internet is starting to fail to occupy me
been honing my skills in freecell though:)
and my early rounds of the GSS has yielded nothing
not like i have plenty of money to spend, just enough
so not very much complaints in that department:)
we people are weird arent we?
when life is too hectic we complain endlessly
when life is too empty we moan and groan about it too
would we ever be satisfied?
at all?
*case for a creator is doing well
just that..its the kind of book you cant read for too long at a time
too many arguements/concepts to digest lah
